- A year in the life of former England striker Michael Owen, wife Louise and their four children, juggling a horse racing business with a chaotic home life
- Directed by Emmy-nominated Chris Wallwork, with Whisper co-founders Jake Humphrey and Sunil Patel among the producing team
LONDON 28 August 2026 – Whisper, a leading global production company, specialising in sports, documentaries, branded content, unscripted entertainment, events and eSports, today sees the launch of “Meet the Owens”, a six-part docuseries produced by Whisper, streaming exclusively on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland from today at no additional cost to Prime members. All six episodes are available now.
“Meet the Owens” follows a year in the life of former England striker Michael Owen, his wife Louise, and their four children, Gemma, James, Emily and Jessica as they juggle a horse racing business while contending with a chaotic home life.
Since retiring from a Ballon d’Or-winning football career, Michael Owen has built a horse racing business to compete at the biggest events in the world, but keeping the stables afloat is getting harder every year. At home, he and Louise are preparing for life as empty nesters: youngest Jessica dreams of becoming a showjumping Olympic champion; Emily, 18, is trying to become the first Owen to go to university; and James, 20, wants to join the family business. Meanwhile eldest daughter Gemma, a presenter with millions of social media followers, is swapping the screen for the saddle, training at her dad’s stables with the goal of racing at Glorious Goodwood.
To bring the series to life, Whisper brought together an industry-leading creative team. “Meet the Owens” is directed by Emmy-nominated Chris Wallwork (Born Racers) and produced by Chris Grubb (Sven, Ben Stokes: Phoenix from the Ashes), Drew Masters (14 Peaks, Built in Birmingham), Will Yapp (Clarkson’s Farm, The Reluctant Traveler), Christian Cerami (Molly-Mae: Behind it All), Mark Cole (Sven), and Whisper co-founders Jake Humphrey and Sunil Patel.
The series continues Whisper’s run of premium sports documentary storytelling for global streamers, following the multi-Emmy and Grierson-nominated “Sven” and “Built in Birmingham: Brady & The Blues”.
Chris Wallwork, Director of Meet the Owens, said: “It has been such a privilege for our crew and our cameras to be welcomed so openly into the Owen family for the last 18 months. It’s a testament to them and the access they allowed us that this series is such an authentic and relatable insight into their lives. Personally, I’ve loved every minute of making this show – making new friends on location and being inspired by the hard work and talent of our team working behind the scenes back at Whisper!”
All six episodes of “Meet the Owens” are available to stream exclusively on Prime Video now.

- Whisper joins Disney+, ESPN and Red Bull on “Max vs 100”, a first-of-its-kind live motorsport event from Silverstone, streaming live globally on Wednesday 16 September
- Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen attempts to overtake 100 drivers, with 101 go-karts on track at once and Mo Gilligan leading live coverage
- Underlines Whisper’s reputation for live event production at global scale
LONDON 28 August 2026 – Whisper, a leading global production company, specialising in sports, documentaries, branded content, unscripted entertainment, events and eSports, today announced its role on “Max vs 100”, a first-of-its-kind motorsport event created by Red Bull with Disney+ and ESPN, streaming live globally on ESPN through Disney+ on Wednesday 16 September as part of existing subscriptions.
The premise is simple and almost absurdly difficult: four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen will attempt to overtake 100 drivers at Silverstone. The closed race puts 101 go-karts on track at the same time, bringing together Red Bull athletes, gaming talent, social media creators, streamers, media personalities and surprise guests. British comedian Mo Gilligan will lead the live broadcast coverage, joined by expert race analysis.
Whisper’s Simon Corney executive produces on the Red Bull Media House production, with Whisper delivering the live broadcast. Executive producers also include Antonia Howard-Taylor for Disney+ EMEA, and Ignacio Leon and Kutlu Baklacioglu for Red Bull. “Max vs 100” will also stream live on the ESPN App for ESPN Unlimited subscribers in the U.S. and air on ESPN2 later the same day.
The event builds on Whisper’s live event pedigree – from the global productions of Usyk vs Dubois, Usyk vs Joshua and Fury vs Paul, to EA’s eSports series, BBC Sports Personality of the Year and FIFA Best, and on a long-standing creative relationship with Red Bull.
Max Verstappen said: “In go-karts, you learn all of the basics; starts, defending, overtaking. Of course, I spent a long period go-karting. It’s always nice to return.”
Simon Corney, Executive Producer at Whisper, said: “Max vs 100 is one of the boldest live events we’ve taken on. One of the greatest drivers of his generation, a hundred karters and one track. It’s a format made for live television, and our job at Whisper is to make sure every moment of it lands. We’ve got a brilliant team on this one, and delivering a first of its kind with Disney+, ESPN and Red Bull is a real privilege.”

- Whisper to produce feature-length Disney+ documentary “Breaking Spencer Matthews”, following Spencer Matthews as he attempts seven full-distance 140-mile triathlons across all seven continents in just 21 days
- Hulu Original commissioned by Disney+ EMEA, directed by Chris Grubb and produced by Drew Masters, Daniel Tait and Tom Beard
- Extends Whisper’s track record in documentary storytelling
LONDON 28 August 2026 – Whisper, a leading global production company, specialising in sports, documentaries, branded content, unscripted entertainment, events and eSports, today announced that it is producing “Breaking Spencer Matthews”, a Hulu Original feature-length documentary for Disney+, following Spencer Matthews as he attempts one of the most demanding endurance challenges ever undertaken.
The film follows Matthews as he takes on seven full-distance 140-mile triathlons across all seven continents in just 21 days. Beyond the physical challenge, the documentary explores men’s mental health, identity, addiction and grief, including Matthews’ processing of his brother’s death on an Everest expedition. It comes three years after Matthews’ first Disney+ film, “Finding Michael”.
“Breaking Spencer Matthews” is directed by Chris Grubb and produced by Drew Masters, Daniel Tait and Tom Beard. It was commissioned by Angela Jain, Head of Content, Disney+ EMEA, and Sean Doyle, VP, Unscripted, Disney+ EMEA. The film joins other Disney+ UK Original unscripted commissions including “Blind Date”, a Duffy feature-length documentary, “Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth” and “Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story”.
Building on Whisper’s award-winning documentary heritage, including “Ben Stokes: Phoenix From The Ashes” and “Sven”, the production continues the company’s reputation for earning the access and trust that character-led storytelling demands.
Spencer Matthews said: “This challenge has become about far more than completing seven Ironman’s across all seven continents. What began as extreme physical pursuit has evolved into a journey of self-discovery and transformation.”
Sunil Patel, Whisper founder and CEO, said: “Spencer is attempting something that, on paper, shouldn’t be possible but the physical challenge is only half of this film. What makes it special is what Spencer is willing to confront along the way. Open, honest and thought provoking.
Whisper has built its reputation on earning the trust of high-profile individuals and organisations to tell their stories properly with care, class and creative flair. The responsibility and opportunity to be curating this incredible human endeavour for Spencer and Disney+ is another huge moment for the team at Whisper.”

- Featuring exclusive unseen Hollywood archive and new interviews with James Cameron, as Frank Marshall boards as Producer
London-based Documentary specialist Dogwoof and Strange Bird have joined forces with Kennedy/Marshall, Whisper and Haviland Digital on MONSTER MAKER, a new feature documentary about Stan Winston, the four-time Academy Award-winning special effects artist behind some of cinema’s most iconic characters and creatures in The Terminator, Jurassic Park, Aliens, Predator and Edward Scissorhands.
Directed by Barney Douglas (McEnroe), MONSTER MAKER explores a transformative era in Hollywood when blockbuster action films and groundbreaking horror franchises redefined popular culture. At the centre of it all was Winston, an imaginative outsider whose artistry and innovation helped shape generations of moviegoers’ dreams… and nightmares.
From the Terminator emerging from flames, to the Predator removing its mask and the groundbreaking dinosaurs of Jurassic Park, many of cinema’s most iconic characters and creature effects were created by Stan Winston and his team. Through never-before-seen archive material, behind the scenes footage of iconic Hollywood movies, and interviews with family, friends and collaborators including James Cameron, MONSTER MAKER tells the story of the visionary artist whose work helped define modern blockbuster filmmaking.
Whilst celebrating the innovations that transformed the industry, MONSTER MAKER explores the man behind the creations. Intimate family films reveal a dedicated father, collaborator and mentor whose legacy continues to shape filmmakers and audiences around the world.
Principal photography begins this week in London with Jeff Goldblum among the first contributors to be filmed, who worked with Winston on Jurassic Park.
The Winston Family said: “We are so thrilled that Barney Douglas – along with producers Tamzin Merchant, Paddy Kelly, Dogwoof, The Kennedy/Marshall Company and Whisper – are coming together to tell Stan’s story with MONSTER MAKER. - WTA Tour Bites connects players to the cultures and communities of tournaments
London, Friday, 26 June 2026: The WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) is launching WTA Tour Bites, a new original content series that uses food as a gateway to deeper conversations around culture, identity, friendship and life on the WTA Tour Driven by Mercedes-Benz.
The three-part series, produced by global production company Whisper, is the latest addition to the WTA’s growing original content bill, following last month’s launch of the fashion focused Style Unpacked. Together, the formats form part of the Tour’s broader content marketing strategy to tell stories beyond the court, highlighting the individuality of WTA players, and connecting them to the destinations, cultures and communities that shape the global competition.
Sarah Swanson, Chief Brand Officer, WTA Ventures, explains: “The WTA Tour visits more than 25 countries each season, yet the uniform nature of the courts can result in locations looking remarkably similar. Through original content like WTA Tour Bites and Style Unpacked, we’re able to bring the personality of our tournaments to life, celebrate local culture and create new ways for fans to connect with our players.”
The first episode of WTA Tour Bites, lands tomorrow, Friday 26 June, is presented by Mia Baker and features Canadian star Leylah Fernandez exploring her connection to Filipino culture, her passions off-the-court, and her preparations for grass-court season, over some of her favourite dishes at a local restaurant near Queen’s Club. Future episodes bring together doubles partners Luisa Stefani and Gabriela Dabrowski for a candid conversation about partnership, life on tour and mental wellbeing, before the series concludes in Eastbourne with Jeļena Ostapenko sampling iconic British seaside favourites while sharing stories from her career.
WTA Tour Bites follows Style Unpacked which kicked off with the Madrid Open where four WTA players were paired with a Madrid stylist to help them find their look for specific, off-court moments during the tournament. Produced by fan-first creative agency Run Deep, Andrea Neira fronted the episodes, and while in Madrid, stylist Antonia Payeras was brought in to help curate their looks. The players were also photographed by Sheila Velasco before leaving the studio, creating a suite of assets to be shared across WTA and player social and digital channels. The aim is to repeat this format across different cities that the players travel to across the season.
Adding, Sarah Swanson says: “Food, like fashion, is a universal language. These subjects provide a natural starting point for conversations that reveal who these athletes are beyond the court, while helping us tell stories that resonate across cultures and geographies.”
Whisper is one of the world’s leading sports production companies, creating award-winning content, documentaries and live broadcasts for major sports properties around the globe. With a track record of producing compelling athlete-led storytelling across sport and entertainment, Whisper has partnered with the WTA to develop a format that combines cultural discovery with candid player conversation, bringing fans closer to life on tour.
Fiona Morgan, Chief Brand Officer, Whisper said: “We love working with the WTA, true leaders in women’s sport. Empowering female athletes is at the very heart of Whisper’s DNA, and WTA Tour Bites allows us to look at sports storytelling through an entirely different lens using food as a universal connector. This project aligns perfectly with our ‘Entertainment is Everything’ ethos, using human-centric narratives to deepen fan connections globally and engage new audiences.”
WTA Tour Bites episodes will be released weekly across WTA social and digital platforms.

- Whisper returning to private ownership
- Sony Pictures Television divesting 30% stake after successful five-year partnership that saw Whisper’s profit and revenue grow almost 500%
- Whisper’s future focused, diverse and entrepreneurial management team to drive next phase of scalable growth
- Employee equity scheme introduced to reward, retain and attract ambitious talent
- External financing secured to drive new areas of value creation focused on insight, tech and IP
LONDON / LOS ANGELES, 5 March 2026 – Whisper, a leading global production company, specialising in sports, documentaries, branded content, events, eSports and unscripted entertainment, today announced that Sony Pictures Television (“SPT”) is divesting its 30% shareholding, after a sustained five-year period of growth and delivery, culminating in record revenues and profits for Whisper last year.
Whisper will return to private ownership, using external finance to deliver a bold and ambitious strategy, create an employee equity scheme, and allow the management team – led by CEO and Founder, Sunil Patel – to drive new growth and market expansion. Whisper partners with some of the biggest names, organisations and brands across sports, media and entertainment, delivering iconic content, moments, stories and programming across a range of media.
SPT sells its 30% stake in Whisper having helped establish it as one of the foremost multi-genre production businesses in the industry, which has seen exponential growth across revenue, profits, and value, and is leaving with a significant return on their original investment.
Whisper will continue to work with SPT through strategic partnerships to help deliver great entertainment products including Wheel of Fortune, as well as a range of sports and media projects.
This development represents the latest phase in Whisper’s 15-year growth story. Founded in 2010 by Sunil Patel, Jake Humphrey and David Coulthard, before Channel 4’s Growth Fund helped accelerate sport and branded content growth in 2015. SPT came on board in 2020 as Channel 4 exited after realising a significant return. With SPT, Whisper’s revenue grew from c. £20m to c. £100m and the company established Whisper North and Whisper Cymru to help drive their multi-genre vision and international market expansion.
Whisper has spent the last year analysing the market and making the structural changes required for the business to best take advantage of the burgeoning and rapidly evolving sports, media and entertainment market. In consultation with all shareholders, a return to private ownership – allied to an ambitious growth plan – will position Whisper as one of the most entrepreneurial, disruptive and innovative leaders in the sector.
Sunil Patel, Whisper CEO and Founder said: “Five years ago, Whisper set off on a journey to become a multi-genre production company. That has been absolutely delivered – creatively, commercially and culturally – with revenue up nearly 500%.
“It would not have been possible without our bold vision and partnership with Sony, which helped elevate Whisper to a truly global force, so huge thanks to Wayne and the wider Sony team.
“It was that collaboration, alongside our valued partners, that has helped us create a scalable business telling ambitious stories that entertain and impact the world. All delivered by our industry-leading team.
“The next chapter of Whisper’s story is already underway, and that will continue to place our people at the heart by ensuring they share in future growth alongside shareholders.
“The platform is set, as is the team. Now it’s time to go make it happen once again.”
Wayne Garvie, President, International Production, Sony Pictures Television, added: “Dynamic, collaborative, innovative, over the last decade, Whisper has become one of the leading global production companies in their field. We have had a brilliant partnership for five years, from Wheel of Fortune to Wimbledon, so many great moments and I’m sure that the many parts of the wider Sony family will continue to find ways of working with Whisper, as we will in International production.
“For now, it’s good luck to Sunil and the team as they take this next step on their marvellous journey”
